We specialize in two of the most beautiful and exotic cat breeds — Abyssinians and Somalis — with nearly 40 years of professional cat-breeding experience. As an ethical, responsible cattery, we are proud to share our passion for these stunning breeds with Abyssinian and Somali enthusiasts around the world. Our breeding program is built on championship bloodlines, and all of our breeding cats are DNA tested for PK and PRA, ensuring that our kittens will never be affected by these genetic disorders. Our mission is to produce healthy, well-socialized kittens that reflect the very best in Abyssinian breed type and personality.

 

We first established our Abyssinian lines under the cattery name Cedarwood in 1994. In 2015, as similar names became more common in the cat fancy, we rebranded to the more distinctive Kahalicats Cattery.

 

After taking a hiatus during the COVID pandemic, we resumed our breeding journey — now proudly located in Alberta, Canada. We are deeply grateful to the breeder friends who preserved our lines during our break, allowing us to reintroduce them into our program. We also expanded our genetics by importing exceptional new Abyssinian lines from two outstanding catteries in Ukraine and China.

 

At this time, our focus is exclusively on the Abyssinian breed, producing kittens known for their rich color, elegant type, and affectionate personalities. While it is uncertain whether we will reintroduce the Somali breed in the future, we invite you to enjoy photos of the beautiful Somalis who were once part of our cattery.

 

Our cattery has been veterinarian certified with the highest rating, reflecting our commitment to exceptional care, ethical breeding practices, and the long-term health of our cats.
